11/24/2023 EnchantaVaughn Approved Behavior: Client has started his week off in an aggressive manner, as he self reported he was verbally aggressive towards a peer in the community last night 2x’s with moderate intensity during a 4-5 minute incident. Client reported the incident started when they argued over an NBA playoff game last night. Behavior: Client self reported he got angry and cursed at the peer 2-3x’s with moderate intensity during the 4-5 minute incident. He then reported QMHP was contacted by his mother to request the session for today. Intervention: QMHP probed client as to his request for today’s individual counseling session. QMHP then encouraged client to use the “thought stopping” techniques which allows him a chance to think about his actions before acting them out aggressively, especially over an NBA basketball game. QMHP also verbalized to client the importance of maintaining a low voice tone when communicating his feelings openly two peers to avoid aggressive incident. Intervention: QMHP used the “empty chair”technique with client which also allows him to openly express his feelings to the chair as if he was speaking to the pier to practice appropriate ways to communicate versus displaying aggression to expressed his feelings. QMHP then commended client for being attentive and alert from the start of session until the session ended today. Response: Client seemed receptive to today’s individual counseling session, evidenced by his ability to verbalize understanding of session. Client responded positively to the “thought stopping” technique and verbalized he thought about using the technique but did not think it would work because the negative peer had threatened him. Client reported at that point he had to defend himself by using inappropriate language which ultimately backed the peer away from him. Response: Client also stated the “empty chair” technique has worked for him in the past and he will try to use it again if encountering the peer again in the next few days. Client remained calm and thanked QMHP for today’s session and vowed to do a much better job during the week with controlling his aggression.
